Title: AIR BUBBLE GEOMETRY AT THIN WEIR FLOWS WITHIN INCLINED OPEN CHANNELS

In this experimental investigation the mean geometry of air bubbles which are generated because of the water flow downstream a thin weir – in an inclined (angle φ) open channel, is presented, analysed and discussed. The dimensionless air bubble’s length, height and area are elaborated and compared both to the weir height and among them, for φ=0o-3o-6o-9o-11o and 14.5o and various Froude numbers. This bubble is created always over the channel bottom, its ceiling lies over the weir height and its length is larger than its height. If the area of the air
bubble is known, then the total water area and weight between suitable upstream and downstream cross sections may be found.
